University of Michigan full-time employees who are open to learning and growing with student leaders are eligible to apply to serve as a facilitator at Leadership Connection, an in-depth development retreat for student organizations.
Update on Leadership Connection 2021
To ensure the safety and security of our staff and participants, Leadership Connection will be delivered virtually for 2021. In lieu of the in-person experience, the LC Lead Team is committed to delivering a Leadership Connection experience through virtual and digital engagement. This program will be offered in the following format:
- Four days of virtual engagement with our staff, other student organizations, and your own delegation (3-5 members of your org).
- A daily committment of 4-5 hours, to include workshop content, small group discussion, and direct work with your org
- Access to a computer, tablet, or smartphone and internet connection are required, and access to a webcam is strongly encouraged
Throughout the past few months, student organizations have voiced the need for help and guidance through this uncertain time. Our team is committed to delivering this support in a way that best meets your needs. Our program outcomes remain the same: to provide you with the knowledge, skills, connections, and support you need to achieve the goals of your organization.
Virtual Leadership Connection 2021 Dates
May 3 - May 6, 2021
Facilitators serve as small group leaders, create curriculum, and facilitate workshops and activities during the week. As a facilitator, you can expect to increase your facilitation and coaching capacities, connect with colleagues, and gain valuable experience with virtual retreat programming. Facilitators are expected to attend meetings during the Winter semester leading up to the program. If you're interested, please fill out this 2021 facilitator application after speaking with your supervisor.
Facilitators are expected to both create and deliver curriculum pieces and lead small groups of student organization members in reflection and processing. Facilitators are also expected to connect with student participants a minimum of twice once returning to campus.
Experience in facilitation is preferred; facilitators must be comfortable facilitating from an inclusive and socially just framework and able to assist student leaders in connecting to curriculum and making meaning of their experience.
Facilitator applications are due Monday, February 19th, 2020.
***This year's Leadership Connection retreat coincides with the observance of Ramadan. It is important to the Leadership Connection team that everyone can participate in this experience and we have been working to ensure accommodations are available for those observing Ramadan. There will also be times built into the curriculum for additional breaks and rest.***
