Center for Campus Involvement Student Staff Opportunities

The mission of the Center for Campus Involvement is to create meaningful experiences, a vibrant community, and lifelong memories for University of Michigan students. CCI is a dynamic, student focused department of the University Unions organization. We are currently hiring a number of student employee positions for the 2014-2015 academic year.

Applicants must have work-study as part of their financial aid package in order to be hired for all positions.  The start date for all positions is Fall 2014.  

 

Billiards Room Recreation Assistant Position     http://tinyurl.com/applybillards

Recreation Assistants are responsible for checking out Billiards & Games Room equipment for use by its guests.  During assigned shifts, RAs will oversee the Billiards Room and monitor guest activity to ensure that the room runs smoothly, run table time management computer and cash register, handle cash, and engage with customers for an enjoyable recreational experience.  Reliability, enthusiasm, honesty, and motivation are desirable.  Prior cash handling experience is helpful but not required! Develops interpersonal and customer service skills.  Starting wage is $8.00/hour with annual increases for returning employees based on performance evaluations.

Involvement Ambassadors serve as involvement peer advisors for their fellow students. The Ambassadors are a peer resource for student organization leadership in the areas of campus policies and procedures, leadership development, and student organization best practices. The Ambassadors team works to create innovative trainings, resources, and networking opportunities for students. In addition, the Ambassadors assist CCI staff with project management and general administrative office duties including front desk customer assistance. Starting wage is $8.50/hour with annual increases for returning employees based on performance evaluations.

The Program Assistant position provides students the opportunity to learn and develop in the areas of: leadership, creativity & innovation, project management, communication, and social justice.  Program Assistants will create, plan, develop, promote, and implement student events and programs across campus throughout the academic year.  Program Assistants will work approximately 8-10 hours per week, specifically afternoons and evenings Monday through Friday, and some weekends as dictated by programs.  Starting wage is $8.50/hour with annual increases for returning employees based on performance evaluations. 

Student Organization Resource Center (SORC) Positions              http://tinyurl.com/applySORC

Clerk C

SORC Clerks gain real-life experience in a small-business environment at the U.  During shifts, they provide publicity consultation, answer phone calls, refer customers to university resources, complete contracts for SORC advertising services, assist guests with copies, faxes, and table rentals, and prepare balloon bouquets for delivery by student drivers.  Excellent written communication skills are crucial, as face-to-face contact with other staff members is minimal. A passion for neatness and organization is desirable.  Starting wage is $8.50/hour with annual increases for returning employees based on performance evaluations.

Motor Vehicle Operator (MVO)

If you're someone who enjoys working with your hands, problem solving, and being on the go, the MVO job could be the one for you.  Work includes driving a university vehicle, delivering balloon bouquets and food packages on and off campus, stapling canvas advertisements onto plywood boards, attaching and hoisting banners onto steel poles, placing bus signs on university buses, placing "table tents." MVOs must have very good communication skills and be able to solve problems in the field without supervision. Generally evening and weekend work. MVOs must work in inclement weather. A valid driver license and excellent driving record are required. This is a dual appointment with Clerk C; in order to accept the MVO position, one must also work a minimum of 3 Clerk C hours per week.  Starting wage is $9.50/hour with annual increases for returning employees based on performance evaluations.
