The Fall lottery takes place in mid-September every year.

The Fall reservation period encompasses September 19, 2016 through January 16, 2017.  

  • The lottery is a series of staggered deadlines and appointments to help you reserve the advertising you need in a structured, know-when-to-be-there format.  
  • Completing reservations via lottery does the following:
    • maximizes the fairness of access to limited campus advertising resources.
    • minimizes the amount of wait time.
    • allows you to do as much as possible from the convenience of your computer.

Winter lottery applications for Diag boards, Diag banners, Table Tents, and the Michigan Union banner will close on Thursday, September 8, 2016.  Appointments will take place on Wednesday, September 14.

No reservations will be accepted between 10PM on September 14 and 12PM on September 16; this is the period during which those groups that had a lottery appointment and reserved spaces can make a final decision and either cancel their spaces or sign a contract. 

At 12PM on Friday, September 16, SORC will begin taking reservations for Diag boards and Banner poles on a walk-in basis.  No appointment is needed.  

Online reservation requests for Bus Signs, Glass Showcases, and Digital Ads for September 2016 through early January 2017 opened in July and remain open until filled.  

 

Fall Lottery Timeline

The Fall reservation period includes all dates between mid-September and mid-January

Late April  Fall lottery applications open.  Fall non-lottery requests open (Bus signs, Digital ads, Showcases) open.

Thursday, September 8  Fall lottery application deadline, 10PM

Wednesday, September 14   Banner Pole and Diag board reservation appointments will take place from 10AM to 9:30PM

Thursday, September 15   Deadline to sign a contract (thus locking in the reservations); groups that do not sign by the deadline release their spaces back to SORC

Friday, September 16   Reservations will begin at 12PM (no appointment needed) for groups that did not secure spaces during the lottery

 

Winter Lottery Timeline

The Winter reservation period includes all dates between mid-January and early May

Week after Thanksgiving  Winter lottery applications open.  Winter non-lottery requests open (Bus signs, Digital ads, Showcases)

First week of January   Winter lottery application deadline

Second week of Winter classes (date TBA, pending SORC student staff class schedules and availability)  Winter Banner Pole and Diag board reservation appointments will take place

 

Spring-Summer Lottery Timeline

The Spring-Summer reservation period includes all dates between early May and mid-September

Late March  Spring-Summer lottery applications open.  Spring-Summer non-lottery requests open (Bus signs, Digital ads, Showcases)

Early-mid April   Spring-Summer lottery application deadline

Mid April (date TBA, pending SORC student staff class schedules and availability)  Spring-Summer Banner Pole and Diag board reservation appointments will take place
