|If you cancel your reservation 0 to 7 days before the start date||0% refund|
|If you cancel your reservation 8-14 days before the start date||25% refund|
|If you cancel your reservation 15-21 days before the start date||50% refund|
|If you cancel your reservation 22 days or more before the start date||75% refund|
Placing Your Showcase Display
Unlike most SORC services, SORC staff does not place showcase displays for you.
You are responsible for placing a display on the scheduled dates before the close of SORC business. SORC closes at 4:00 p.m. on Fridays in the Spring/Summer. Reservations that end on Fridays must be taken down by then.
SORC is closed on Saturdays and Sundays in the Spring/Summer. Reservations cannot start or end on a weekend.
Any member of your group can pick up the showcase key at SORC during regular business hours to put up your display. You will need to leave a driver license or other photo ID while you have the key in your possession.
You must return the key before the end of the business day.
You may check out the key as often as you wish, for the duration of your posting.
There is no deadline for glass showcases. If you put up your display late, you simply forfeit those days of advertising.
You are not eligible for a refund or credit for lost advertising exposure.
The advertiser is responsible for posting materials that comply with SORC and University of Michigan content requirements. For more information, visit SORC Eligibility & Content page and http://www.vpcomm.umich.edu/brand/. Some, but not all, of those criteria are listed here: Some, but not all, of those criteria are listed here: Voluntary Student Organizations (VSO) may not use university marks, including the Block M, split Block M, or “University of Michigan,” “U of M,” or “U-M” preceding the name. University departments and Sponsored Student Organization (SSO) must meet University of Michigan specifications for use of Michigan trademarks, and may not alter the Block M or any other university trademark.
If your organization is an SSO, it is your responsibility to provide written or online verification of departmental sponsorship before displays bearing University trademarks are brought to SORC for placement.
If someone from your organization posts materials that do not meet content or other requirements, your group is not eligible for a refund or dismissal of late fees to produce new materials that meet the requirements.
The organization’s full name and contact information must appear on all displays in letters at least 4” tall, in order to be large enough to be read from a normal viewing distance.
If SORC double-books the space, the group whose request was submitted earlier will be given the space. The group whose request was submitted later will be offered another showcase location.
If this is not an agreeable solution, you have the choice of 3 remedies:
- posting at a later date
- credit toward future SORC services
- refund to department or SOAS shortcode, equivalent to the pro-rated value of time lost
SORC is not responsible for displays that are damaged, vandalized, or removed without authorization. (It would require a key to do this, or someone would have to break into the glass, so it is very unlikely).
It is the advertiser’s responsibility to check their location(s) regularly.
SORC does not monitor glass showcases. By all means, if you walk by your showcase and someone has posted flyers on it, take them down and contact the group who posted the flyers illegally. Please CC us on the message so we can follow up with that group about proper use of University resources.
If you notice that an showcase is in need of repair, kindly notify SORC.
Taking Down Your Showcase Display
It is your responsibility to take down your showcase display materials before SORC closing time on the day your reservation ends.
If you fail to take down your materials, the incoming organization is not responsible for saving them. Generally, people considerately return items to SORC. Pay it forward!
If your display is especially large or complicated, causing an unfair burden for the incoming group, a fine may be assessed to your shortcode.
If you have any questions about showcases that are not addressed here, email us. Thank you!
