Peer Leadership Advising
Peer Leadership Advising is a FREE service offered to any member of a student organization at the University of Michigan.
You don’t need to hold a formal leadership position to schedule an appointment and meet with a Peer Leadership Advisor. Whether you’re a general member, new to your organization, or currently serving in a leadership role, we are here to help! Appointments can be either virtual or in-person, whatever works best for you! Your student organization should be either registered or in the process of registering through Maize Pages.
Schedule an Appointment
- Fill out the Intake Form.
- Select a time from our Appointment Calendar. Don't see a time that works for you? In your intake form, specify additional timings that may work better for you. Each appointment is scheduled for 30 minutes.
The Peer Leadership Advising Process
Step 1: Once you’ve submitted your intake form and scheduled your appointment, A Peer Leadership Advisor (PLA) will contact you to confirm your request to meet.
Step 2: Based on the information you provide, a PLA will research and share relevant resources and tips that are tailored to the topics you would like to explore. PLA’s can help you reflect on your organizational logistics, challenges, goals, vision, and the Leadership and Social Change framework
Step 3: After the session, a follow up email will be sent to you regarding what was discussed during the meeting, including the resources mentioned.

Who are the Peer Leadership Advisors?
Peer Leadership Advisors (PLAs) are a group of peer educators from the Center for Campus Involvement who have experience and expertise in organizational leadership. They research and develop resources for student organizations, facilitate leadership workshops and provide individual and small group consultations for student organization members at the University of Michigan, that are registered or are in the process of registering through Maize Pages.
How can a Peer Leadership Advising Appointment help me?
The Peer Leadership Advisors can connect you with resources, activities, exercises and services that may be able to help you and your organization succeed. Using the leadership for social change framework, PLAs can help you find the things you need to navigate your own personal leadership development as well as to help guide your organization through challenges. Can we meet in groups?
The Peer Leadership Advising service is most effective in one-on-one settings. If you want to have a Peer Leadership Advisor work with a committee, e-board, or other small group (less than 10 people), please email [email protected] to inquire about availability.
