The decision to sponsor a student organization should be taken seriously. Many organizations will apply for sponsorship because they want the benefits that come with it. You do not have to sponsor any organization if you do not want to. At the same time, the University is committed to the support of student organizations and the work they do. The idea of sponsoring an organization should not be dismissed just because it may be a minor inconvenience.
Potential sponsors must act in the best interests of their units and of the University. Considerations include:
- Mission Alignment
- Resource Commitment
- Risk Assessment
These are great tools to initiate conversations with students who are asking your unit to sponsor them.
