Student Event Advertising: Construction

When you reserve a Student Event Advertising space from SORC, it is your organization's responsibility to submit materials for SORC to put in that space. Ads will be displayed on 24" x 36" A-Frame signs and placed strategically around the events. These ads will be much cheaper to print than Diag boards or Banners.

You can either purchase printing from a professional sign company or make them yourself. Ads must be printed or hand-drawn on 3/16" thick corrugated plastic; vinyl, mesh, paper, and lamination are not acceptable.  See below for further information. The size of the signs onto which SORC students students attach the ads is 24" wide, 36" tall. We cannot accept materials that are wider or taller, because the material will not fit into the signs.  

 

Contact info must be at least 1 inch tall on the ad (QR code is ok but does not fulfill requirement). This can be:

Design tips: 

  • Successful advertisements are those that are colorful, eye-catching, and concise. Most people are enjoying an event, and they do not have the time (or attention span) to read a lengthy advertisement. Stick to the basics: Who, What, When, Where, and Why should they care.

  • Take advantage of the natural group setting where students are actively seeking topics for discussion and sharing about their experience on social media. Your ad could be the next buzz on campus that gets talked about long after the event is over. Encourage students to talk about or share your ad through speaking to what they care about, giveaways, and prompting discussion.

  • Engage students with QR codes and interactive content. Tailor your advertising content to resonate with the theme and mood of each event, ensuring a natural fit and enhanced connection.
