SORC is back in the Michigan Union!

After a nearly 2-year renovation closure, the Michigan Union opened to the public on Monday, January 13, 2020. We look forward to your visit to our wonderful new space on the 3rd mezzanine level, Room 3401.

A few people are telling us that it's a little difficult to find the SORC, so here is a guide:

Office Space on the 4th Floor

To learn more about getting office space for your student organization on the 4th floor of the Michigan Union as well as the Michigan League, Pierpont Commons, and the Trotter Multicular Center, please visit this page.

This is an annual process by application and selection.  The general timeline:

  • Applications open in mid-fall, close in mid-January.
  • Review and selection takes place January through April.
  • Occupancy starts in September.

Work at SORC

The SORC offers many employment opportunities for University of Michigan students. All of these positions allow students to gain practical experience in a customer service environment.  We also have a lot of fun!!!

As of February 2021, we are accepting applications for employment in August-September 2021:

  • Motor Vehicle Operator (MVO)
  • Clerk
  • Dual appointment Clerk/Motor Vehicle Operator (MVO)

Whether we are actively interviewing for positions or not, we will always accept applications, keeping them on file for one year and contacting you for an interview if there is an opening.  

Hours of Operation

Find Fall/Winter, Spring/Summer and Break hours.
