Table Tents: Availability

Table Tent example

Availability / How It Works

We are doing table tent reservations a bit differently this year. The deadline to confirm your table tent space for all weeks is Monday, 8/26. Any space that is not claimed by this date will be available to the groups on the wait list. Once that date passes I will email the next organizations in line and you will have three days from the time I email you to claim your space.

Table Tents are awarded by an application and random draw. After the random draw, unused spaces are available on a by-request basis. Scroll down to the tables below to see week-by-week availability.

  • SORC offers services to over 1,600 student organizations and dozens of UM departments. We strive for fair, equitable access to all. To that end, each organization may not use table tents more than twice per semester. If your group has the good fortune of being chosen as a winner of more than two weeks, you must choose only two. If, however, the wait list for a particular week is exhausted and no student organization steps forward to use that space one week before the reservation start date, departments may use more than 2 weeks per semester.
  • There is a random drawing for the use of Table Tents, but there is not an appointment like Diag boards or Diag banner poles; groups either win one of the four available spaces, or they are wait-listed.
    • Immediately after the drawing is conducted, the top 8 organizations in each table are identified as the winners for that week.
      • One space each week is held for student organizations. If no student organization requests the space ten days before the start date, it will be available to departments on the wait list.
    • Other groups are listed in the order in which they were randomly drawn (wait listed).
    • If a winning organization does not claim its space before the designated deadline, the first group on the wait list is given the opportunity to rent the space. They'll have about 2-3 days to decide, and so on.
    • Groups in italics are in a decision making spot, meaning that they are eligible to reserve the space but have a deadline by which to do so.
    • Once a group has accepted and paid for its space, failed to respond, or declined, their line is bold and the opportunity has passed.
      • If interested, those groups will have to get on the wait list again, at the bottom.
    • It is not uncommon for a group near the bottom of the wait list to actually end up reserving the space.
  • Winners are responsible for the space rental fee ($53 per week for student organizations; $105 per week for departments) plus the purchase price of the table tent inserts at the printer or copy center of your choice. Table tent inserts must be cut to the proper size before submitting to SORC for placement.

Standings for the Fall 2024 Reservation period

Pro tip: Hold down the Ctrl key and hit "F" to search by your organization name. On a Mac, hold down the ⌘ (Command) key and hit "F"

If you are listed as a winner below, here's what to do:

  • The organization's authorized signer should copy and paste the following message (change relevant bits) and email it to SORC@umich.edu:
    • I wish to reserve Table Tent space on behalf of (organization name) for (dates).
    • My phone number is:  xxx-xxx-xxxx.
    • My shortcode is (number), and I am the authorized signer for my organization.
    • A brief description of my ads is: (for example, "promoting concert" or "mass meeting" or "general promotion").
    • I acknowledge a charge of $53 (student orgs) or $105 (departments) per week for the table tent space rental.
    • I acknowledge the construction and content guidelines for SORC Table Tents and will submit materials that follow these guidelines.
  • SORC does not take Table Tent reservations in person; this process needs to be in writing. Please follow the steps above. If you have questions, email SORC or call 734-764-0436.
  • Groups in italics are in a decision making spot, meaning that they are eligible to reserve the space but have a deadline by which to do so.
  • There is a limit of 2 weeks per organization per semester. If you had the good fortune of winning more than two weeks, you will have to choose only two, so that other groups have the opportunity to use this service.
  • If a winning organization does not claim its space before the designated deadline, the first group on the wait list is given the opportunity to rent the space. They'll have about 2-3 days to decide, and so on.
  • Once a group has accepted and paid for its space, failed to respond, or declined, their line is bold and the opportunity has passed.
    • If interested, those groups will have to get on the wait list again, at the bottom.
